About Shire Valley Design
In 2001 Shire Valley Design was established as a woman owned ornamental metal fabricating business. However, from the late 60’s on, Beth has been working for her family in their metal fabrication and machine shop. Caring for her family’s 4 Shire horses inspired the name for her own business.
In 2016, Beth’s husband began a new career as a Corrections Welding Trade Instructor. The RHU became a frequent maintenance challenge. Inmate fishing had become unrestrained and out of control. A decision was made to install rubber strips to the bottoms of each level 5 door. During one installation, this Welder learned firsthand what a “cocktail” consisted of. This personal experience along with repeated repairs of inferior “super Wickets” led to the development of the Secure-Pass-Thru. The first-generation design was so well received (still in service) that the Deputy and Head of Maintenance encouraged us to Patent the design.
Along the way, we were privileged to have input from CERT Teams, CO’s, Sergeants and Administrative Executives from all over the State of Pennsylvania. We are proud of the support and collaboration of these outstanding Corrections Professionals as we have incorporated all their refinements in our Secure-Pass-Thru.
